Does a project in Lake Jackson need pilings?

Different ground, different foundation problem

Lake Jackson is not beachfront, and the piling work here looks different because of it. Instead of surge and scour, the drivers are soil, drainage, and load. Brazoria County soils move, Oyster Creek and the surrounding drainage put parts of town in mapped flood hazard areas, and heavier structures often need support well below the surface even where a slab would be fine for a house.

That is where piles and piers come in: pole barns, shops, equipment buildings, elevated additions, and structures near the creek where a conventional slab is the wrong answer.
